I Lift My Hands

I think of Chris Tomlin as a spring of worship music that never runs dry. Fresh, pure, and constant, worship just flows through him in an authentic way.

This is from his most recent album, And if Our God is for Us. It was a line from the chorus that compelled me to share it:
"I lift my hands to believe again..."
So often, during a time of worship, especially over these past few months, I've thought,
"I can't do this. It's not real, how can I worship You when I feel absolutely nothing?"
But what if I lifted my hands not because I believe, but in order to believe? Isn't that how it happens? As I commune, as I reach out to Him, He reminds me why.
"As I pour out my heart, these thing I remember: You are faithful, God, forever."
I Lift My Hands

Be still, there is a Healer,
His love is deeper then the seas.
His mercy is unfailing,
His arms a fortress for the weak.

Let faith arise.
Let faith arise.

I lift my hands to believe again,
You are my refuge you are my strength.
As I pour out my heart, these thing I remember,
You are faithful, God, forever.

Be still, there is a river
That flows from Calvary's tree.
A fountain for the thirsty,
Your grace that washes over me.

Let faith arise.
Let faith arise.

I lift my hands to believe again,
You are my refuge you are my strength.
As I pour out my heart, these thing I remember,
You are faithful, God, forever.

Let faith arise.
Let faith arise.
Open my eyes.
Open my eyes.

[update]
After I posted the lyrics to this song, I found this video of Chris talking about some of the motivations behind this song. Love this guy.
